Keeping a positive attitude while living in a negative environment is really challenging but it is not impossible. I know it's easy to say but difficult to do but it is still doable and as much as you believe in its importance to your life you will do it. I went through very tough time through the past two years. I became miserable and my life looked like it is put on hold. I couldn't do anything and I did not feel any motivation or enthusiasm for anything. So I took the decision to avoid all sources of negative thoughts, feelings and energy.
Below are few tips that helped me to keep a positive attitude when every thing and every one around me were negative.
1- Live in the moment, forget about the pain of the past and do not worry about the future.
2- Self care: Physical, emotional and spiritual self care are so important to stay positive. When you feel healthy, fit and in shape you feel good about yourself and it is most unlikely that any external factor can affect you.
3- Surrender: Believe in the mercy and support of Allah (God), and that He is doing what is the best for you.
4- Avoid negative people and surround yourself with positive people to support you.
5- Get Inspired by reading about people who lived challenging lives and learn how they could take a positive attitude despite the challenges they faced.
6- Set a relaxing routine breathe deeply, meditate, or just repeat positive affirmations daily to feel inner peace; like I am safe, I am feel great, my life is perfect, or whatever other affirmations that you prefer,
7- Count the blessings in your life not what is missing. Keep a gratitude journal and add 5 things, daily, that you are grateful for having in your life. After few weeks you will have a long list that can help you to realize how blessed you are.
8- Question your fears. Fear is most probably the main cause of your negative attitude so question the truth of these fears and worries. How many times were they true? How could you overcome your fears and who can support you in this mission?
9- Keep a Journal: and write down in details, your thoughts, your emotions, your fears and your worries you will feel lighter. Try to make journaling a daily habit; it will help you.
10- Do what brings you joy and pleasure. Spend time with the people you love, travel, go on silence retreats in nature, or try new hobbies to refuel and to gain more positive energy.
